Where?
NIEUWE NOR is a pop music venue situated in the center of the city of Heerlen in the very south of the Netherlands, on close proximity to both the German (5km to the east) and Belgian (20km to the south and 30 km to the west) border.The venue is situated and subsidized by the municipality of Heerlen, a city with 90.000 inhabitants. The venue serves as the a musical hotspot for the region of Parkstad with 240.000 inhabitants in total. Heerlen is situated in the vicinity of cities such as Aachen (15km), Maastricht (25km) and Liège (50 km). Other large Belgian cities with airports like Antwerp/Bruxelles and the German Ruhr area (with Köln, Düsseldorf and Dortmund) are an hour's drive away. This gives the venue a unique position for international acts with multi-national fanbases.
What?
NIEUWE NOR (which is Dutch for "new jail", named after the first location of the venue, a prison, fourty years ago) is a unique cultural hotspot. A recently expanded venue with two stages and room for over a 1000 visitors.
The venue was originally built in 2006 expanding on a small cultural café. The club has an industrial look and feel and is known for it's warm and friendly crew.
The Nieuwe Nor caters to a wide variety of genres and fanbases. From pop to rock, hiphop to a wide selection of electronic and dance music, this venue will make anyone feel welcome.
